CALL FOR PAPERS Please join us for the 61st Annual Meeting of the Pennsylvania Sociological Society.
Our theme is “Together in Peace: Social Change Through Community Diaglogue”Location: Seton Hill University
Greensburg, Pennsylvania
September 30 to October 1, 2011
The PSS welcomes submissions addressing various issues of interest to sociologists. In addition, the 2012 meeting will have a special focus on “Social Change Through Community Dialogue.”Beginning with the early founders of the discipline, sociologists have been committed to social change and activism. This commitment is perhaps even more important in our increasingly complex and global world. This year at the PSS we will be examining how sociologists engage with their communities in order to effect positive social change. How do we inspire and mentor students to play an active role in creating social change? What are the types of successful interaction and dialogue with community agencies that are being implemented? How are citizens and community members involved in the efforts of sociologists?
Scholarly papers and student poster presentations on those that pertain to the theme are preferred. Other topics will be considered. Panels and student poster presentations are also encouraged. There will be an Undergraduate Research Paper and Poster Competition—all students who submit to the competition must also present their papers at the conference.
Deadline for proposal submissions is September 23, 2011. Please email your presentation proposal and a 250-word abstract to:
