Job Posting: Sociology Faculty

The Division of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences at Penn State University - Berks Campus located in Reading, Pennsylvania invites applications for a multi-year Full-Time position at the rank of Lecturer in the field of Sociology to start in August of 2010. Penn State Berks is a four-year college of The Pennsylvania State University with approximately 3,000 students that emphasizes excellence in pedagogy, research and scholarship, and outreach.

Candidates are expected to have a Masters degree in Sociology, with a Doctoral degree preferred. Teaching experience is required, with an emphasis upon active learning and the use of technology in the classroom, where appropriate.

Primary duties are to teach a 4-4 undergraduate course load, including Introduction to Sociology, Sociology of the Family, and an introductory course in Women’s Studies. Preference will be given to candidates who can teach additional courses that would reflect our division’s interests in global diversity, minority studies, international media, and group relations. The successful candidate also is expected to advise students and provide service to the college.
